MASTERCARD Worldwide has appointed Julienne Loh vice-president and country manager for Singapore, making her the first Singaporean to head the office here.
She will oversee all aspects of operations in Singapore and set the direction for achieving business targets here. Her responsibilities include forging closer alliances with customers, enhancing brand awareness and increasing the usage and acceptance of MasterCard products.
Ms Loh was formerly vice-president of key accounts management for MasterCard in Singapore and is credited with growing the premium card portfolio for banks.
She was also involved in launching the world's first cross-border MasterCard MoneySend remittance service, which lets cardholders make international fund transfers. Her 'sharp business acumen also resulted in the conceptualisation and implementation of highly successful usage campaigns in conjunction with the banks', said MasterCard Worldwide.
Ms Loh takes over from T V Seshadri, who is moving to head MasterCard's South Asian offices. Ms Loh's appointment brings the number of female country managers in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa region to five. Before joining MasterCard, Ms Loh was with Singapore Press Holdings and led the marketing division's banking, finance and insurance team.
